Locals Only : SÖPÖ Girls Take Jazz Fest

Being New Orleanians you already know we have our cube lineups set. Jazz Fest is a New Orleans tradition, and one we are very proud of. From the muddy shoes to the crawfish poboys we love it all, and this year is no different. The Söpö girls are gearing up for JazzFest 2015. We're planning our weekends, reminiscing on the great past-Jazz Fest memories, and hoping to make more this festival season.

Robin

Hands down, what is your favorite Jazz Fest memory?

I'd have to say that my favorite memory would have to be falling in love with my current husband during Stevie Wonder in the rain.

What do you love most about Jazz Fest?

I live in the hood, so it's a hood thing.  Bringing my kid.  Fais do do stage.

And last, but not least, what shows are you dying to see at Jazz Fest 2015?

Bulldog.  I man Pitbull.  I mean, WTF

Britta

Hands down, what is your favorite Jazz Fest memory?

having just broken up with my ex, I went to Jazz Fest to see band of horses and was super nervous because 'no one's gonna love you' was our song and I knew that would be hard to see, PLUS I knew he would be there with his friends. I got up front and then, during the song, everyone around me started nudging me telling me to look at the screen. There I was, front and center and the size of the empire state building, on the screen wearing a red and white polka dot shirt and my fave snakeskin vintage sunglasses. shining moment and awesome pick me up!

Another fave memory is jumping into the car on a whim with my brother who still had food poisoning to go to Jazz Fest. He was in town visiting and the weather was shit but we saw the dead weather was playing and couldn't miss it. still the best show i have ever seen at JF and we were soaked through. What do you love most about Jazz Fest?

What do you love most about Jazz Fest?

I'll be honest with you, I kind of hate Jazz Fest, but my favorite part is seeing as many late night shows as my old body will allow. And getting to see all of my friends that venture in for fest.

And last, but not least, what shows are you dying to see at Jazz Fest 2015?

Wilco and Father John Misty. (not playing at Jazz Fest but dayz between - ask robin - those are my moments to shine - I like the 12am-6am shows).

Christyn

Hands down, what is your favorite Jazz Fest memory?

Favorite memory is similar to Robin's:  dancing to Van Morrison in the rain with Jon Gregor (my hubby).

Close second:  seeing Stevie Nicks was transcendent, of course, obviously.  My mom had just gotten divorced and she was always really inspired by / identified with her and loved her like I am and do.  We saw Stevie together and it was maybe my favorite memory with her.

What do you love most about Jazz Fest?

What do I not love about Jazz Fest?? It's my favorite time of year.  The sunshine.  The sense of oneness with everyone around you. Congo square.  The shopping.  The community.  The music!  My favorite part might just be at the end, when you're that perfect kind of exhausted, and you have your yakamein in hand, and you see that neighborhood band and just have to stop and get in one more dance.  I just, I love it all.

And last, but not least, what shows are you dying to see at Jazz Fest 2015?

Freedia and Gaga.  And if Gaga stops at Elton that would be sweeeeet.

Gabby (aka blog-post-writing pro)

Hands down, what is your favorite Jazz Fest memory?

By far my favorite memory would have to be the first time I saw Bruce Springsteen live a few years ago. I think it was my second Jazz Fest after moving back to NOLA, and I got to spend it all with my big sister aka best friend. We weren't close to the stage by any means, but we had the time of our lives. We got decked out in red, white and blue (Duh, it's the Boss) and danced our booties off. Plus, he crowd-surfed. It rocked.

What do you love most about Jazz Fest?

Everything. The heat, the crowds, the after shows (the after-after shows), the way it brings people together, and the way it feels like it'll never end (who would want it to?).

Oh, and the booze.

And last, but not least, what shows are you dying to see at Jazz Fest 2015?

John Legend, The Who, Widespread Panic, Eric Lindell, NO DOUBT, Chicago, Elton John, Freedia, (takes breath) and last, but not least Lenny Kravitz!

Tweet us, facebook us, or just come into the store and let us know what you can't wait to see this Jazz Fest season!

XOXO, Söpö girls.
